A new sculpture for the AC Marriott Hotel in downtown Fort Worth, Pamplona Rose is an 8-foot-tall fiberglass column in the shape of a half chap, or pollaina. The setting is a traditional boot stitch inspired by a custom M L Leddy cowboy boot. Commissioned by Dallas development company Jackson Shaw CRE, the owner of the AC Marriott. Mexican glass smalti mosaic clads the surface in a design inspired by another M L Leddy custom boot. Photo by Danny Fulgencio.

San Angelo Heritage Mosaic

San Angelo Heritage Mosaic

Created for the Porter Henderson Library at Angelo State University, the mosaic depicts the San Angelo region’s history, geography, culture and campus traditions to reflect the connections between Angelo State University and the surrounding community. The sides of the wall depict landscape scenes including native plants, wildlife and symbols derived from the nearby Paint Rock pictographs painted by the Jumano Native Americans. The top of the wall depicts “snapshot” elements important to San Angelo cultural identity, such as a Ramboulliet ram, an Aeromotor windmill, the historic railroad trestle bridge over the Concho River and “Mia’s Alice” and “Texas Dawn” species grown at the International Water Lily Gardens.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Columbarium

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Columbarium

Located in Plano, Texas, the Seton Madonna of Consolation was created in 2016 for the outdoor columbarium garden.

Seton Madonna of Consolation

Seton Madonna of Consolation

Commissioned by the members of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas, the Seton Madonna of Consolation is an original work designed by Plano artist Lynne Chinn and fabricated by Julie Richey and Lynne Chinn in their respective studios.

The mosaic is made of Italian glass smalti and 24k gold leaf smalti. The multicolor roses are inspired by the flowers in the church's outdoor columbarium where the work permanently resides. As the floral border reaches the top of the tondo, roses give way to thorns, evoking Christ's crown of thorns. A subtle "brocade effect" fills the background and features the Seton cross, an emblema with four wheat shafts.

Preservation Dallas Honors Our Team

Preservation Dallas Honors Our Team

The 2018 Preservation Dallas Achievement Awards ceremony recognized our team with the Gail Thoma Patterson Award for outstanding restoration of a Dallas landmark.

Our team consisted of Father Jonathan Austin of St. Jude Chapel, Julie Richey of Julie Richey Mosaics, and Cher Goodson of Art Restorations, Inc. of Dallas. Conservator Callie Heimburger and mosaicist Lynne Chinn assisted.

The restoration project was funded by the donations of generous parishioners of St. Jude Chapel in downtown Dallas. The project was done in three phases: interior new mosaic panel, interior altar wall repair, and exterior façade restoration.
